Fund Raising

Hospice of Montgomery must rely on support from the community in order to provide services to all who are in need of hospice care. Community support is what has made our efforts so successful for over 20 years. This generous support is a source of encouragement to all of us as we work to fulfill the mission of Hospice of Montgomery.

The Purpose of Fund Raising Activities:

• Increase awareness of Hospice of Montgomery
• Raise money to support the work of Hospice of Montgomery
• Establish ongoing sources of income for Hospice of Montgomery
• Build long term relationships with supporters in the community

The proceeds of fund raising activities enable Hospice of Montgomery to continue its tradition of providing professional, compassionate and quality services to terminally ill patients and their families in the River Region.

These proceeds also help ensure that funds will be available to provide care and services to all eligible patients regardless of their ability to pay.

Membership Program

Membership requires little on the part of the member, but it means so much to Hospice. Essentially the member is lending his/her name and financial support to Hospice. Hospice of Montgomery is strengthened with each new supporter who joins us.

Annual Fund Raiser

Hospice of Montgomery and its Board of Directors host an annual fundraising event. The success of the event rests upon the generosity of sponsors and ticket sales.

Other Funding Sources:

Private Donations

Contributions, including stock, are received from individuals, local businesses, and community and civic groups and organizations.

Memorials and Honorariums

Contributions are received in memory and in honor of loved ones. All memorials and honorariums received are acknowledged by Hospice of Montgomery with cards.

United Way

Hospice of Montgomery receives funds from United Way. Individuals may designate Hospice of Montgomery as the recipient of their United Way donation.

How are Funds Used?

Membership dues, donations and fundraising income is used to cover the cost of:

• Uninsured care
• Under-insured care/partial benefits
• Medications for patients who do not have the ability to pay
• Medical equipment and supplies, such as oxygen and diapers, for patients who do not have the ability to pay

Care/services required, but not reimbursed by Medicare/Medicaid:

• Bereavement Services
• Volunteer Training
• Staff Education
• Community Education
• 'Special occasion' gifts for patients/families

Special programs:

• Community Grief Support Group
• Annual Memorial Service
• Pay quality staff
• The Hospice Home
