Family Education and Training

Hospice of Montgomery offers Patient and Family Education upon admission and throughout the care of each patient.

What We Do

Educate the patient and family regarding the hospice philosophy, role and services provided
Teach the family how to provide for the day to day care and needs of the patient
Provide education related to infection control, safety measures, fall prevention, medication management, administration of medication, and nutritional information
Educate the family regarding the stages of dying and what they can reasonably expect to happen as the disease progresses
Provide education related to the grief process and healthy strategies of coping with grief.

A Patient and Family Information booklet will be given to the family upon the patient's admission. The RN or Social Worker will review the information within the booklet such as:

Administration of Oral, Buccal and Sublingual Medications
Medication Disposal
Basic Home Safety and Emergency Preparedness
Patient Care
Nutritional Information
When Death is Near/When Death Occurs
