The Hospice Home

A well designed Hospice Home is important for those we serve and for those who volunteer and work in the unique ministry of hospice. As Winston Churchill put it, "First we shape our buildings, then they shape us." This home will serve patients from anywhere in the River Region who have no caregivers, or whose caregivers are unable to provide the level of care necessary to keep their loved one at home. It will provide the same medical, emotional, and spiritual care that is currently offered at home. The 10,000-square-foot retreat-like Hospice Home will feature eight private bedrooms with outside views and decks, adjoining sitting rooms, spacious, great room, kitchen, and dining area. Personal items can be with the patient, beloved pets can visit, and family members and friends will be able to stay overnight. A reflection room will provide patients, family members and guests a quiet, peaceful place for mediation and prayer. The beauty of nature and the peaceful sound of cascading water will be the focus of the Hospice Home grounds and gardens.
There will be many volunteer opportunities with the Hospice Home. Whether you can dig in the garden or play the piano, a variety of talents will be needed.
Commemorative opportunities will be many ranging from naming the home to furnishing the rooms and landscaping the grounds. These gifts may be named in honor or memory of the donor, friends or family members. Civic, community, fraternal and religious groups may also take advantage of these commemorative gift opportunities.
The Hospice Home will provide a lasting monument to the many individuals and families that Hospice of Montgomery is privileged to care for, and who teach us what dignity, grace, courage and hope in the final phase of life, mean. This home will server as a beacon of hope and compassion for all who call our community "home".
